Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP)

DCP Testing provides a measure of a material’s in-situ resistance to penetration. The test is performed by driving a metal cone into the ground by repeated blows, striking it with a specific weight dropped from a specific height. The penetration of the cone is measured after each blow and is recorded to provide a continuous measure of shearing resistance up to the required distance below the ground surface. The test provides data as to the strength and bearing capacity of the soil.
